‘Falling Skies’ season 4 ep 11: ‘Space Oddity’ review, photo, promo

Falling Skies 4×11 “Space Oddity & 4×12 “Shoot The Moon” (Season Finale) – Tom’s mission to destroy the Espheni Power Core is complicated by Lexi’s return. Lexi is forced to take extreme measures to save her father’s life – and her own – after a Beamer malfunction. Meanwhile, the 2nd Mass fears an impending Espheni strike by the scorched Overlord. Treva Etienne guest-stars.

From IGN comes the review: This week’s episode, the first of a two part finale, picks up seconds after “Drawing Straws” ended with Lexi’s arrival drawing the attention of everyone near by. Saying that the reaction her arrival was mixed might be a bit disingenuous as she is met with skepticism and fear. Even Anne, the only person who seemed to have any faith in Lexi, is hesitant to trust her daughter. “Space Oddity” relies heavily on this distrust as a tense narrative develops around whether or not Lexi is still working for the Espheni.

Falling Skies episode 11 falling skies photoLexi has turned on her Espheni masters and is trying to make amends for her mistakes. At least that’s what we think we know. As the episode progresses we’re led down a weaving path that gives us serious doubt about what Lexi’s intentions really are.

Pope this week that gives us another peek into his shattered emotional state now that Sara has left him behind. His rash, but not out of character, attempt on Lexi’s life gave way to Pope near tears about remembering the faces of everyone he’s lost in his life.

Lexi replaces Ben on the mission, something that Ben protests to considering the ridiculous lottery last week. Tom brushes him off as they prepare for launch. Maggie, Hal – harsh words….things move on.

Post launch Lexi informs Tom about hairline fractures messing with life support on the ship and that the only way to survive the mission is for both of them to use a cocoon. That leads into the dream sequence.

The final shot with Tom, now being much more warm towards Lexi, pulls out to reveal what appears to be the bombs they plan to use on the generator. They’ve been sabotaged. An interesting reveal, especially after the events of last week when it seemed to be made clear to the audience that Lexi had turned on the Espheni.
