Two of Steven Spielberg’s classic films grace a new list of “The 10 Greatest Monster Movies” published by Canoe.ca.
“Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park (1993): Spielberg’s thriller was a transitional zone for modern special effects. Plus his T Rex was naturally terrifying — and kind of cool for his ‘sleazy lawyer solution’,” the article notes of the popular dinosaur film.
The author notes his love of creature films and “monsters who inspired empathy, even when wreaking havoc, inspiring fear and causing death.”
Jaws was the other Spielberg film on the list with Terminator 2, The Fly, Frankenstein, King Kong, Godzilla and 2013’s Pacific Rim.
“Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (1975): Spielberg inadvertently created a lesson in the Big Reveal: Hold back as long as possible, as Gareth Edwards does in the new Godzilla,” they note of the famous film.
