‘Indiana Jones 5’ may happen now that Disney is involved

Muppets, Marvel and Star Wars may be joined by another huge franchise as Disney acquired the rights to distribute and market future Indiana Jones films.

Deadline reports that Paramount has given up the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise and now Disney is clear to move ahead with a fifth Indiana Jones film.

“The new deal gives Disney marketing and distribution rights to future films as well as retaining Lucasfilm’s ownership rights — which basically means they’ve got the whole shebang now,” Deadline reports.

Paramount will still receive some financial benefits from future films.

Disney has purchased and fast tracked three new Star Wars film with additional solo projects also rumored.

Indiana Jones 5 has long been rumored with Harrison Ford returning as the titular character, but nothing solid from George Lucas or Steven Spielberg at this point. Indiana Jones Harrison Ford photo
