‘Mummy Daddy’ – Episode 4, season 1 “Amazing Stories”

The “Mummy Daddy” episode is probably my most favorite episode from “Amazing Stories”.

An actor (Tom Harrison) dressed as a mummy races from location-filming of a horror movie through a primeval Southern swamp to reach his wife, who is about to give birth. But the locals believe in the eerie legend of Ra Amin Ka, and when they encounter the panicked, bandaged performer, they are positive he is the real deal. – IMDB

Tom Harrison as Harold/Mummy racing back to meet his wife in labor was one great moment and laugh after another. Bronson Pinchot (“Perfect Strangers”) and Tracey Walter (“Batman”, “The Silence of the Lambs”) and Brion James (“Blade Runner”, “The Fifth Element”) are a great compliment in this story of mistaken identity with, well a Boris Karloff feel.

William Dear (“Harry and the Hendersons”, “Angels in the Outfield”) directs this classic featuring Mummy-a-Mummy showdown.

The original airing was October 27, 1985.
